Police Seeks Public Help Identifying Driver of Winder Highway Hit-and-Run Crash

The Gwinnett County Police Department wants the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a fatal Winder Highway hit-and-run accident. The police spokeswoman, Officer Hideshi Valle, made this known on Friday, December 3rd. The call came after the GCPD failed to identify the driver nearly two weeks after the accident. 

According to the investigators, 36-year-old Luis Urquiza Requena of Winder died on Wednesday, November 24th. The victim was traveling in a car struck by the at-large hit-and-run driver. The police said the vehicle went off a guardrail on Winder Highway. 

The driver of the vehicle, Requena, traveled in, a 56-year-old man from Winder sustained injuries. The Gwinnett County Police said the 56-year-old was eastbound when the hit-and-run driver struck his car near Still Road. It happened at about 6:40 a.m. The car lost control, went over the guardrail, and rolled down an embankment. 

The police said they did not know the vehicle responsible for the Winder Highway hit-and-run accident. Valle said there is no suspect description and encouraged witnesses to call the GCPD or Atlanta Crime Stoppers if they have helpful information. Witnesses can reach the police at 678-442-5653.
