Man Killed in Atlanta Highway Crash After Tire Blows Out

A lot of us have had a tire blow on us at some point in our lives. It can be quite scary. When this happens, the driver typically loses control of their vehicle. Surprisingly, that’s not what happened this weekend when the Fulton County police were called to the scene of a deadly Atlanta Highway crash.

On Friday, February 5 at about 2:15 am, a man was struck while trying to cross the highway in Fulton County. From what the police can tell, the man’s car had broken down on the side of the road after suffering a tire blowout.

The victim, 48-year-old Alberto Henderson was from Baltimore, Maryland. He wasn’t familiar with the location where he had his accident. He was crossing the highway to get help or service of some kind. The police didn’t specify if he was trying to get cell service or if he was trying to reach a person to help him.

Unfortunately, before he made it across Interstate-285, he was struck by a tractor trailer. The trucker hit him when he was in the middle of the highway near the exit ramp for I-20.

By the time rescue crews had arrived at the scene, the man had passed away from his injuries. There is no indication that the truck driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the Atlanta Highway crash. The police confirmed that the driver stayed at the scene and assisted in the police investigation.

If the investigation reveals that there was a defect with the victim’s tire, his family may have a potential wrongful death claim.

If you or your loved one are hit in any sort of motor vehicle accident, make sure to call an Atlanta car accident attorney right away.
