The police are looking for the person responsible for as many as seven shootings that led to deadly car crashes in Atlanta in less than two months. The police have been responding to accident scenes only to find out that the crash victim had been shot directly before they crashed their car.
This all started on January 4 when a young man named Ernesto Anderson was traveling on Interstate-20 on his way to work. He was shot and killed while driving his vehicle. There have been six more shootings in Atlanta since, with five of those shootings resulting in the death of the victims.
The most recent was this past Friday on March 5, 2021. A young man named Corey Detiege was traveling on Interstate-85 in the Southbound lanes. It was about 3 am when police responded to a single car accident. Detiege was not from Atlanta but he was there for a show. He is a locally known rapper. He was taken to the local hospital but there has been no update on his condition.
These cases are all being disguised as car accidents but in each one the victim was shot during or before the accident. The families of the victims will certainly have a potential wrongful death claim against the shooter if they can be identified.
The police say there are video cameras along the Georgia Interstates and that they are real-time. So far, they’ve been of no help.
The police are asking anyone with information about the deadly car crashes in Atlanta to call and let them know. They want to get the families of these victims some justice. They can then proceed to see if they have any sort of legal claim.
